Winter 2021

Dear friend,
2020 was a very difficult year. A long winter is still ahead of us. So many of us are isolated and alone during this pandemic. But I feel hope after the recent election and the sun is shining brighter and longer each day. Please don’t give up and despair. This pandemic will come to an end and it will soon be safe to gather and be with the ones we love. In Chinese Medicine this is the time of the Water Element. It is a time to slow down and rest, finding peace in winter’s quiet. Can we wait a while longer to reconnect? Can we lean into the energy of winter and hibernate? Can we take advantage of winter’s calm to go deep inside ourselves and find our strengths? This is what we need to survive this pandemic. Winter and the Water Element support us in this time of holding and waiting.

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible
summer." -Albert Camus

Spring and change will come. Don’t give up hope.
Love,
Margaret

Sometimes - Sheenagh Pugh
Sometimes things don't go, after all,
from bad to worse. Some years, muscadel
faces down frost; green thrives; the crops don't fail,
sometimes a man aims high, and all goes well.
A people sometimes will step back from war;
elect an honest man, decide they care
enough, that they can't leave some stranger poor.
Some men become what they were born for.
Sometimes our best efforts do not go
amiss, sometimes we do as we meant to.
The sun will sometimes melt a field of sorrow
that seemed hard frozen: may it happen for you.
